I didn’t have much success with these this year. Yes, there were plenty of them, however they were very leggy and not the most stable of plant. However, they brought a charm to the wild flower selection in the garden.
The deep, dark red colour of the Cornflower “Black Ball” was not as dark as I had thought they would be, but they were still definitely striking.
These were the first flowers to appear in this bed in June and they looked stunning in amongst the foliage of the Snapdragons whose blooms took over when these had all faded and fallen.
I will definitely be having another go with these next year, but instead of sowing in to trays and then transplanting I think I will sow direct and chance my luck.
